Rocket?

Rocket?

Postby jegreen » Fri Mar 03, 2017 8:27 am

A Gillette Superspeed was on my list of razors to own "one day" and I managed to get hold of this Rocket. The difference to the Superspeed seems minimal so I was very happy to get it. I still want to give it a cleanup and oil the weekend but so far I'm very impressed with it. Condition looks great and it's got some serious weight.

Looking at it closer my impression is that this is a Superspeed that has been put into a Rocket case. The only identifying marks are that it's made in England and Patent number 430030 on the baseplate. Unfortunately nothing else to date it with. I do have a suspicion that this razor might even be something else, but don't want to get my hopes up.

Any comments from Superspeed/Rocket owners would be appreciated.

That entire package is amazingly clean for something that I assume is about 30 years old . :OOO

Looks like an aristocrat to me (excellent razors, surpasses rocket/superspeed by miles) - Chris will certainly be able to id your razor. Great find it looks mint !

That's actually an Aristocrat Junior  Did you import it from overseas?

It does have the same style buttom knob as a rocket though.

I stand corrected, raised my desk this morning - definitely standing!

How much did you pay for it? If may ask?

Nope, definitely an Aristocrat 20 Junior.I have to agree with Jaquers on this one.. I have the 16 and the handle is not the same as this one. The 16 has a more thicker barber stripe pole handle. ;)

Wow! Thanks for the quick response everyone. I'd also come to the conclusion that it might be an Aristocrat Jnr, mostly due to the baseplate not having the "diamond" on it. Looking at the links it makes even more sense, because this razor comes from Canada. I was blown away by the condition and this weighs quite a bit more than my Slim.

This was my first (and definitely not for a while again) Ebay purchase. It was bundle of razors (all in cases) and the final bid price was a bit higher than I was prepared to pay. But there were 3 razors that I had to have and and their condition is pretty much all on the same level as this one. Looking at them now, and this Aristocrat Jnr I can at least say that I picked up a bargain. And this one worked out cheaper than some of the current ones going on BidorBuy!

I'll be putting up posts on the more interesting ones, and also add to the posts as I try them out.

Thanks for the great info!

Would love to see the other razors in that batch . Must have been a few choice picks in there .
