Guilty as charged...  Some very nice distances you've covered the past two weeks Thug. :bow :bow

I entered the 10km Springbok Vasbyt on Saturday and was quite surprised with my strong finish. The Vasbyt is about 75% trail running with very steep climbing in the hills around Fort Schanskop and 25% tar road. This afternoon I'll be heading home by foot again.. ;)

Wow well done both of you I have been plugging away at Parkrun regularly since March 2017 and my times have been improving week by week I have now done 15 park-runs and my time has dropped from 50min to my PB on Saturday the 15th of July 2017 of 39min 51 sec.

No where near your guys distances and times. :bow

I'm also nowhere near these guys but my wife talked me in to do our first 21km at the Knysna Oyster festival in 2h30. Been training as time allows at about 30 km per week split over 3 runs. Went really well and forced myself to stick to 7 min / km up and down. Picked up the pace in the last few km as I was feeling quite good and finished strong. So has a good experience, feeling a bit sore still but not stiff and no injuries.

Thanks Gents.

@Bles, well done on the Vasbyt!
@Dave, great that you're sticking with PR and that your times have been dropping. Well done.
@jegreen, great result and well done. Always start off slow and if you are feeling good, then to increase speed.

Thanks, I'm very pleased with myself. I know I could have pushed harder but I ran exactly how I wanted to, and it went better than expected. Furthest I'd ever done before this was 14 km! I read a great article the other day on Ryan Sandes (South African that recently won a trail 100 miler in America). In that race the favourite was an American guy that made 93 miles last year, and this year 75 miles - both times on track to obliterate the course record by almost 2 hours and burning himself out each time. The importance of drinking water, calorie intake, and how the first half determines how your second half will go really stuck with me.

For those types of guys a 21km is just a morning jog, but for me it felt like doing the Comrades!

Thanks thug for me it is also very encouraging that since mid march till now not only have my times been improving but that i have also managed to loose 25kg by sticking to an aggressive LCHF eating plan, and of course regular park-runs and gym training.

Hi Dave, excellent PB you've recorded there. Superb progress since March. One of these days you'll be kicking up some dust at us.... ;)

Well done jegreen.  Nice finishing time. This morning I've entered the Phobians Romans Pizza 15km which is in August. I only realised Saturday when pulling on my running vest I still had my 2015 licence on. :hmmm To get back in routine and keep me on a running program I've decided from now on to enter at least one race once a month. :D

One of my worst races was with a hangover, for every kilo of the hundred I hated myself for it. On the positive side, I was cured by the end of it.
