From a post elsewhere this morning: Saw a guy at the gym putting a water bottle in that place where a Pringles can should go on the treadmill

Impressive distances covered Thug, O_P and Mikaar.

I did a 12.3km run on Saturday morning and some weight training this morning. The winter is slowly catching up on my training program....

Thanks Thug. I must send my bike in for a service as I plan to start cycling to work and back home from next month.

Hopefully this was my fourth one and each time I have improved on my time by about 40 to 50 seconds so lets see. My youngest son is like a gazelle he finishes about 7th or 8th in around 21 min and then comes back for me and pushes me.

Well done Thug. Must be getting a bit more difficult with winter approaching?

I'm feeling slightly under the weather at the moment, so taking a break from running. I also need to work on my form to move away from heel striking as I've been having a bit of knee pain after my runs.

Thanks Jacquers.

I run in zero drop trail shoes and 5mm drop road shoes, so had to transition from heel striking to mid/forefoot striking.

Easiest way to transition is to narrow the length of your stride and increase your cadence to around 170-180 strides per minute ((in total). What this will do is bring your centre of gravity over where you foot strikes the trail/tarmac and automatically you'll transition to a mid/forefoot striker.

Take it easy though and don't rush it because you'll end up with tender calves.

Thanks Thug, will give that a try. I might need to buy new shoes with a zero / lower drop.

Surely it can't make my calves more tender than running on the beach ;)

Don't go and buy new shoes yet, slowly make the transition and when you are comfortable, then splash your money.
