Blade Banks

Postby Jacquers » Fri Jun 24, 2016 1:11 pm

I saw Bles posted an interesting bank for used blades. Currently I use an old plastic medicine bottle, but maybe I should use my old hippo. It would take me a while to fill it. If you have an interesting blade bank, post some photos :)

I picked up somewhere that in the old American houses, because they use prefab walls the guys would just make a neat slot in the wall and then the blade bank becomes the cavity I'm the wall. Now that must take some time to fill up.

Nice one Jacquers. I use an old salt shaker. Got about a years worth of blades in so far. A big Gerkins bottle would be cool.

I've seen pictures if workmen demolishing a house and they found thousands of blades in the wall cavity.

However nothing comes close to the blade recyclers of India. They collect used blades and thread them through a long piece of twine string. They end up with huge columns of blades that they sell for scrap.

I also used that same hippo for some time Jacquers. It worked well because you can put a small little lock on and then remove it at the recycling center and simply empty it out without having to throw it away as well. Now I have a R3 tin I brought at Merrypak which seems to last forever. Mine is half full but that is only because every razor I have ever found seems to have had about 10 or more loose but rusted blades come with it..

I use an old peanut tin. It has over a year's worth of blades in it and is about a quarter way full.
