Mine's slightly different than the one on the site, but it's close to #5 edit: seems it's from the mid 1960's

Had a yellow-ish one, but then got a whiter one so the yellow one went to ShineyChrome who liked the aged look.

ShinyChrome has the Ship Recovery Salem one (#4) and another one not listed on the site which is slightly taller. edit: seems it's late 1950's

Nice, I eyed them too, but the northern suburbs is like the southern part of jhb to me.... It's that far away from me. A day trip with packed lunch and a sleeping bag

Cool! The seaforth mugs are nice and hefty. I have a couple as well. More brown in colour (called custard glass). Those are called Milk Glass. They usually came with a puck of soap inside. Would be interesting to find one with the soap.

Found this old Old Spice advert. I saw that same talc tin at the Flea market, but the seller was asking a high price for it.

Got these images from a shaver in the USA. Now this a rare find, it has the lid and the SOAP intact!

Very nice

Now the question... to use it or not? I think I'd leave it as is, you probably won't find one like that again. I wonder if it has any scent left.

I've seen these go on ebay (with lid an soap ) for 80 dollars. I would use the soap. Just a tip: Shave the edges slightly so the soap sits right at the bottom of the mug. Otherwise you get a build-up of nasty water under the soap. Don't force it down (the mug could break - and many mugs were broken like this  )

Yeah, it's meant to be used after all.

I'd at least make a mold of the soap before using it and make a plaster copy or something. Or with 3d scanning and printing tech you could also make a copy.

The Wriggly Tin soap fits in those mugs perfectly. btw, any idea when you / they will have their bay rum one available again?
