The 'Stubble' look

Postby RiverValleyTrading » Tue Aug 01, 2017 3:59 pm

As the hippie / hipster beard trend seems to be winding down a bit, I see more and more people favouring the 3-day stubble look. It's sort of in between unshaven stubble and a beard.

I think everybody's beard growth patterrn is slightly different, and this look might not work for all. The reason I say this becasue I recently attended a wedding of a close relative (Groom's side). Anyway, he walked looking really flash in a tailored suit made by one of Durban's oldest tailoring families. However, just looked as if he hadn't shaved for a couple days. I spoke to him about it afterwards, and he said he as going for the stubble look, but it jsut didn't grow right.

Just something to consider. I say when in doubt, shave clean.

However there is a fine line between looking stylish and looking like some kind of hard luck hobo.

Probably the best story was from a mate of mine who trying to grown in a beard. He was at a restaurant and he overheard one of the waiters commenting that the 'chap who didn't shave this morning wants to see the menu.. '

I think many younger guys these days prefer going for a stubble or bearded look if their work environment allows it. Besides the cost factor, there's also the irritation caused by cartridge razors.
I used to shave with an electric because I didn't like cartridges and then eventually decided on growing a beard until I started wet shaving.
