Prep as a pre-shave

Postby lladets » Thu Jul 11, 2019 11:38 am

I don't know whether it is just my sense of smell.........When I use it with certain soaps and creams it seems to develop a faint smell of ammonia when lathering over the prep. Possibly a chemical reaction between the two? Has anyone else noticed this or is it all in my mind??
Comments would be interesting? :old :hmmm

Prep has that camphor / menthol type scent. It could be mixing up with the prep. When I use the prep as a pre shave I don't smear it on too thick. I use it very watery. I call it Prep-water :)
This is how my Grandfather shaved
This is how my Father shaved
This is how I shave.

I also smear a very thin layer onto my wet face

The only way I use Prep is as an aftershave balm. I find it works so well like that.

There used to be a Prep shaving cream and soap from Italy which I loved.

I use prep as an aftershave Balm, i splash water on my face before applying the prep, it forms "prep water" and soaks into my skin and leaves its feeling moisturised. Even the small 100g tub will last me months.

It could even be used as a shaving cream. But you can’t use a brush with it.
